Privacy Policy
Last updated August 5, 2026
Nyze is a macOS application and companion website (nyze.xyz) that helps music producers organize their beat libraries and share beats with artists through hosted links. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Nyze is operated by Nyze LLC ("Nyze", "we", "us", or "our"). You can reach us at any time at support@nyze.xyz.
This Policy applies to three groups of people, and we have organized it so you can find the parts that apply to you:
- Producers: people who create a Nyze account and use the Nyze desktop application.
- Listeners: people who open a shared beat link at nyze.xyz/p/... A listener does not need an account, and Section 4 describes the very limited information collected on those pages.
- Visitors: people who browse nyze.xyz or join our beta waitlist.
1. Information You Provide to Us
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if you sign in with Google) or your email address and a password (if you sign up with email). If you sign in with Google, authentication happens on Google's servers; we never see or store your Google password. We assign your account a unique identifier.
Beat library information
The app indexes the beat folder you choose and stores metadata about your files: file names, folder and genre names, tempo (BPM), musical key, duration, file sizes, and related tags. Your local file paths are used by the app on your device and synced to your account so your library follows you.
Audio you upload
When you share beats through Nyze Links, we store your audio on our servers: the original file, a lossless FLAC copy used for streaming, and waveform preview data. This is what keeps your links working even if you move, rename, or delete the original files. Your audio is stored in a private storage bucket, is never made publicly listable, and is only reachable through temporary signed URLs generated by our servers. See Section 7 for how audio is protected and Section 8 for how it is deleted.
Information about your contacts (artists)
You can add artist profiles to Nyze by typing them in or by importing them from your macOS Contacts (with your permission, requested by macOS). An artist profile can include a name and, if you choose to add them, an email address, phone number, and social media links, along with your history of packs sent to that artist. This is information about other people. You are responsible for having a relationship with, or permission from, the people whose details you add. Any artist can ask us to delete information about them; see Section 9.
Feedback and support
If you send feedback or contact support, we collect your message, any rating you give, your email address, and any screenshots or attachments you include, along with basic context (app version, device model, macOS version, and library size counts) that helps us reproduce problems.
Beta waitlist
If you join the waitlist we collect your name, email address, Instagram handle, your role (for example producer or engineer), how you store your music, and whether you want product updates by email. We only send marketing email if you opt in, and every message includes a way to unsubscribe.
2. Information Collected Automatically (Producers)
Product analytics
The app and website send usage events to our analytics provider (PostHog) so we can understand which features are used and fix what is broken. Events include things like signing in, completing onboarding, creating a pack, or hitting an error, together with app version, platform, a per launch session identifier, and coarse library statistics (for example how many beats you have, never their contents). Analytics profiles are linked to your account email and user identifier so we can debug issues you report.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, a crash report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics with technical details about the crash, a truncated (partial) user identifier, and library size counts. Crash reports do not include your audio or your contacts.
Software updates
The app periodically checks nyze.xyz for updates and can download them automatically. An update check is an ordinary web request and includes your app version and IP address in standard server logs.
Server logs
Like nearly every online service, our servers keep operational logs (timestamps, request paths, status codes, and identifiers needed to process requests) used for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The nyze.xyz website uses local browser storage for sign in state and analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or ad trackers anywhere. Shared pack pages (nyze.xyz/p/...) use no cookies and no third party analytics at all; see Section 4.
4. Listener Pages: If Someone Sent You a Beat Link
If you opened a nyze.xyz/p/... link, you do not need an account and we deliberately collect as little as possible about you.
When you open a pack page and interact with it, we record that the page was opened and which beats were played, replayed, skipped, or downloaded. Stored with each visit:
- a salted, one way hash of your IP address, never the raw IP;
- your country and region only, never your city or precise location;
- your device class (phone, tablet, or desktop), never your full browser fingerprint;
- a random session identifier that lives only in your browser tab.
These pages use no cookies, no ad trackers, and no third party analytics. This activity is shown to the producer who sent you the link (for example "opened, played beat 2 twice"). Because a link identifies the pack, not the person, the producer sees activity for the link, not a verified identity.
To have your listening events deleted, email support@nyze.xyz with the subject "Remove my data".
5. How We Use Information
- To provide the service: operate your account, index and sync your library, host and stream your audio, generate share links, and show you listener activity for the packs you send.
- AI assisted features: see Section 6.
- To improve Nyze: analytics and crash reports tell us what works, what breaks, and what to build next.
- To support you: respond to feedback and support requests.
- Security and abuse prevention: rate limiting, protecting audio behind signed URLs, detecting misuse, and keeping non public content non public.
- Communications: service messages (such as an account deletion verification code) and, only with your consent, product news.
- Legal compliance: where required by law or to protect our rights and users.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information for third party advertising. We do not use your audio, your library, or your contacts to train artificial intelligence models.
6. AI Assisted Features
Some features use a large language model provider (Anthropic) through our servers to make your library easier to organize: parsing beat file names into structured titles, tempo, key, and collaborator names, and generating onboarding tips from a summary of your library. What is sent for these features is limited to file names and library summary statistics. Your audio is never sent to an AI provider. Tempo and key detection run entirely on your device. Our agreements with the provider do not permit your data to be used to train their models.
7. How We Share Information
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers (subprocessors)
Companies that process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing services to us:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (Firebase) | Authentication, database, cloud functions, crash reporting | Account details, library metadata, artist contacts, feedback, crash data |
| Cloudflare, Inc. (R2) | Private audio storage and delivery | Uploaded audio files and waveform data |
| PostHog, Inc. | Product analytics | Usage events, account email and identifier, feedback surveys |
| Anthropic, PBC | AI metadata parsing (Section 6) | Beat file names, library summaries |
| Vercel, Inc. | Website hosting | Website traffic and server logs |
| GitHub, Inc. | Hosting app downloads | Standard download logs (IP, user agent) |
Services you connect
If you connect Dropbox, the app reads your selected beat folder using Dropbox's API under your authorization. Your use of Dropbox is governed by Dropbox's own terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect it at any time from within the app or from your Dropbox account settings.
People you share with
A pack page is visible to anyone who has its link. It shows the pack title, beat titles and metadata, waveforms, the artist name you addressed it to, your producer name, and playable audio (and downloads, if you enable them). It also shows that artist the history of packs you previously sent them. Share links only with people you intend to reach, and note that anyone they forward a link to will see the same page. You can revoke any link at any time.
Producers (listener activity)
As described in Section 4, listener activity on a pack page is shown to the producer who created that pack.
Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Nyze, our users, or others.
Business transfers
If Nyze is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or in how your information is handled.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account (available in the app, confirmed with a verification code sent to your email):
- your account records, library metadata, artist contacts, pack history, and stored authentication tokens are deleted;
- your analytics profile with our analytics provider is deleted;
- your uploaded audio files and any remaining operational records tied to your account are deleted from our storage systems within 30 days;
- your shared links stop working.
Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, or fraud prevention purposes, and residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged. Feedback you sent us and waitlist entries are retained until no longer needed or until you ask us to delete them. Listener events are retained so producers can see pack activity; listeners can request deletion at any time (Section 4).
9. Your Rights and Choices
You can, at any time:
- Access or update your account information in the app or at nyze.xyz/profile.
- Delete your account from within the app, or by emailing us.
- Revoke any share link from within the app.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us.
- Opt out of marketing email using the unsubscribe link in any message.
- Disconnect Dropbox or revoke Google sign in access from your Google account settings.
If you are an artist or listener without an account: you can ask us to delete contact details a producer stored about you, and any listening events, by emailing support@nyze.xyz. We will honor these requests and, where a producer added your details, we may notify them that the record was removed.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
If you are in these regions, we process your personal data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (analytics, security, and service improvement, balanced against your rights), consent (marketing email, Contacts import), and legal obligation. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any right, email us; we will respond within the time required by law.
California and other U.S. states
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. You have the right to know what personal information we collect (this Policy), to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. You may exercise these rights by emailing support@nyze.xyz; we will verify your request using your account email. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization.
10. International Transfers
We are based in the United States and process data on servers located in the United States. If you use Nyze from outside the United States, your information is transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses with our service providers.
11. Security
We take security seriously and apply measures appropriate to the sensitivity of what we hold: encryption in transit everywhere (HTTPS only), audio stored in a private bucket reachable only through temporary signed URLs that expire within 30 minutes, OAuth tokens encrypted at rest with AES 256, share links generated with unguessable high entropy identifiers, server side access controls so one user can never read another user's data, hashed rather than raw IP addresses in listener analytics, and rate limiting on public endpoints. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as required by law.
12. Children
Nyze is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect, and we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Nyze after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
